Day 1 of the Judo blog... the dojo opens.

I've been involved with martial arts since I was a young, skinny, bookish kid. I'm still all of the above, but slightly older, and I currently hold a 1st dan in Judo.

This year will be full of all things judo, and with each day I'll be learning, or relearning, one technique. I'll embed a few videos or pictures with each technique (thank you youtube!), thus creating the greatest Judo diary blog archive, of all time.

The first video will be the quite beautiful, and semi-famous (within the judo community) video created by the Kyoto University Judo Team in 2006. This is a great, romanticized video of what Judo is about, for those who have never seen it before.

From what I can tell, the moves in the video are as follows:

1. Ippon Seoi Nage
2. O Soto Gari
3. Tomoe Nage
4. Kata Guruma
5. Tai Otoshi
6. Ukemi, Shrimping, etc.
7. ??? I don't know this one!
8. Type of Tani Otoshi
9. Sumi Gaeshi
10. O goshi
11. Uchi Mata
12. Double leg (now illegal in competition)
13. Morote Seoi Nage
14. Flying arm bar
